Canada Express Entry Immigration

Canadian Federal Government in January 2015 replaced its old immigration process of “first come, first served” with the “Canada Express Entry”. Rather than just being an immigration program, Express Entry actually is an online portal created with a purpose to receive and manage the intake of Canada’s immigration applications.

How does Express Entry works?

Eligible candidates are allowed to submit an online profile which is also known as an Expression of Interest, under one of 3 federal Canada immigration programs, or participate in provincial nomination programs, to the Express Entry Pool.

Under a point based system also known as a comprehensive ranking system (CRS) candidates’ profiles are ranked against each other. According to this system, highly ranked candidates are considered for an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Points are scored based on core factors such as age, education, work experience, and language ability. Significant points are also given to a qualified job offer and provincial nomination.

Candidates who receive an invitation to apply must quickly submit a full application along with the processing fees within a period of 60 days. It just takes 6 months to process an application for permanent residence under express entry.
